Two Sons Pizza Bringing New York-Style Pies to Downtown Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS NEIGBORHOODS 27

A Traverse City favorite is making its way to Grand Rapids. Two Sons Pizza, known for its New York-style pies, is expanding with plans for two downtown locations.

The first location will open as a pop-up at 67 Ottawa Ave. SW, the former Stan’s Tacos space near Oakes Street. The pop-up will serve as a temporary spot while construction continues on a permanent Two Sons Pizza location elsewhere downtown. Once that move is complete, the Ottawa Avenue space will become home to a new concept from the same owners.

Two Sons Pizza first opened in Traverse City about three years ago and quickly gained a following for its East Coast-inspired menu. The Grand Rapids location will feature a similar lineup, including classic and signature pies, plus sides and desserts.

Menu Highlights

Classic Pies

  • Cheese – Two Sons’ homemade crust, house sauce, and over a pound of fresh whole milk mozzarella.

  • Grand Pepperoni – Layered with pepperoni, Fior di Latte, fresh Parmesan, and basil.

  • Meatball – Topped with their house-made meatballs, mozzarella, and Parmesan.

  • Eggplant – Oven-roasted breaded eggplant with fire-roasted red peppers, pesto, and mozzarella.

  • Hawaiian – Smoked ham, pineapple, and spring onions on house crust and sauce.

Signature Pies

  • TC Pie – Cherry barbecue sauce, slow-smoked pulled pork, and red and green onions.

  • Graffiti – Their take on the supreme with pepperoni, sausage, ham, onions, mushrooms, olives, and green peppers.

  • Smokehouse Chicken – Ranch base with smoked chicken, bacon, and mozzarella.

  • Mushy Madness – Sautéed mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil, and basil.

  • Weekly Special – A rotating creation showcasing seasonal flavors and local ingredients.

Sides and Desserts

  • Fries – Fresh Idaho potatoes served plain or with truffle oil and Parmesan.

  • Garlic Knots – Homemade dough with olive oil, garlic, Parmesan, and marinara for dipping.

  • Zeppelis – Fresh doughnuts with powdered sugar and Nutella drizzle.

The Traverse City location is known for its employee-focused operations, offering benefits such as health insurance, paid holidays, and set schedules. The owners plan to bring that same philosophy to Grand Rapids.

The team aims to open the pop-up as soon as possible, pending final approvals.
