Rapid River Stillhouse was originally founded in 2019 in Jenison, just 15 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids. Nick Rice, a Grand Rapids native, joined the team in 2021 as the program director and now serves as the CEO of Rapid River Beverage Company.
Why “Rapid River?” According to Rice, the name reflects the company’s commitment to crafting something special for the community beyond just moonshine. It’s also a nod to Grand Rapids and its iconic Grand River.

The company recently purchased a property on the corner of Bridge Street and Stocking Avenue—an area quickly becoming one of the city’s most vibrant destinations. On October 18, Rapid River opened its doors for a grand celebration.
“This venue represents the culmination of our vision to create a unique space where the community can gather, enjoy exceptional food and beverages, live entertainment, sports, and experience the best of what the West Side has to offer,” said Rice.
