Labor Day weekend is here, and West Michigan is sending summer out with a packed schedule of live music, theater, gaming, festivals, shopping, movies, and lakeshore fun.

From GrandCon 2026 taking over DeVos Place to Sister Act at Circle Theatre, Minus the Bear at The Intersection, candlelight concerts at Wealthy Theatre, and major festivals in Holland and Muskegon, there are plenty of reasons to get out of the house over the long weekend.

Here are some of the biggest events happening around Grand Rapids and West Michigan September 4–6, plus a few Labor Day Monday ideas if you want to keep the weekend going.

GrandCon Gaming Convention 2026

Friday–Sunday | DeVos Place

Michigan's premier regional tabletop gaming convention returns to downtown Grand Rapids for three full days. GrandCon brings together board games, card games, miniature games, role-playing games, industry guests, vendors, tournaments, and plenty of opportunities to try something new. The convention runs September 4–6 and is designed to be fun for all ages.

Sister Act

Circle Theatre

Circle Theatre kicks off its September production of Sister Act, the feel-good musical comedy based on the hit 1992 movie. Featuring music by Alan Menken, the show follows disco diva Deloris Van Cartier as she hides out in a convent and brings new energy to its choir. The production runs September 3–19.

Muskegon Polish Festival

Friday & Saturday | Hackley Park, Muskegon

Celebrate Polish culture during the 11th annual Muskegon Polish Festival. The family-friendly event features Polish food, polka music, cultural activities, history, and a large children's area. The festival begins at 11:30 a.m. Friday and continues through Saturday evening.

The Found Cottage Mercantile Market

Friday & Saturday | Ottawa County Fairgrounds, Holland

Vintage lovers will want to make the trip to Holland for one of the area's biggest shopping events. More than 140 handpicked vendors will offer antiques, vintage finds, curated clothing, handmade goods, home décor, and plenty of food truck options.

CHIHULY at Meijer Gardens

Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park

Spend part of the holiday weekend exploring Dale Chihuly's spectacular glass artwork throughout Meijer Gardens. The outdoor exhibition spreads across the 158-acre property, combining colorful glass installations with gardens, water, and sculpture. It continues through November 1.

Backyard Adventures – Final Weekend

Grand Rapids Public Museum

Families have one last chance to experience Backyard Adventures before the exhibit closes Sunday. Designed especially for kids ages 5–12, the hands-on exhibition explores the science found in everyday backyards, gardens, playgrounds, plants, and animals.

Petal Party: Dance to Music from Ariana Grande

The Stache

Ariana Grande fans can kick off Labor Day weekend on the dance floor. The 18+ Petal Party promises a night filled with Ariana favorites and plenty of pop music energy. Doors open at 8 p.m., with the party starting at 9.

Sister Act

Circle Theatre

If musical theater is more your style, spend Friday night with Deloris and the sisters as Circle Theatre presents its new production of the hit musical comedy.

GrandCon – Day One

Grab your dice and start the weekend with tabletop gaming, RPGs, card games, miniature games, tournaments, vendors, and fellow gaming fans at GrandCon.

The Pyramid Scheme

Friday evening is opening night for this huge vintage and handmade market. General Friday admission runs from 5–9 p.m., with shoppers able to return Saturday as part of the Friday pass.

Muskegon Polish Festival

Candlelight: The Best of Hans Zimmer

Minus the Bear – Menos El Oso 20th Anniversary Tour

The Intersection 

Indie-rock favorites Minus the Bear celebrate 20 years of Menos El Oso with a special anniversary tour stop in Grand Rapids. KEEP joins the band as special guest.

Jay Webb – The HOMESICK Tour

The Stache

Jay Webb brings the HOMESICK Tour to The Stache Saturday night with support from Lil Man J. The show is all ages, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

Ben Quad + Macseal

The Pyramid Scheme

Indie and emo fans have another Saturday option with Ben Quad and Macseal joined by Aren't We Amphibians and Potionseller at The Pyramid Scheme.

More than just a parade, this unique West Michigan Labor Day tradition celebrates the local businesses and workers that keep the region moving. Big rigs travel from Zeeland to Holland before gathering at the Holland Civic Center, where a free ice cream social wraps up the morning.
