Bojangles, the North Carolina-based restaurant chain known for its fried chicken, biscuits, and sweet tea, is set to open its first Michigan location later this year in Wyoming, just outside Grand Rapids.

The new restaurant will open by the end of 2025 on 28th Street SW, taking over the former Taco John’s building. The spot sits along a busy stretch of road already home to several major chains, including Raising Cane’s, which is also preparing to open nearby.

This location will serve as Bojangles’ debut in Michigan, adding to the brand’s network of more than 800 restaurants across 17 states. The company says the Wyoming restaurant will feature its full Southern-inspired menu, including fried chicken dinners, breakfast biscuits, and signature sweet tea.

With both Bojangles and Raising Cane’s entering the Grand Rapids market within months of each other, 28th Street is quickly becoming a destination for fried chicken fans in West Michigan.

@smallegan Bojangles is announcing their debut in Michigan! The Wyoming, MI location will serve the Grand Rapids area community by the end of 2025. The North Carolina based chain takes shape in the former Taco John’s on 28th St. SW. Sounds like Raising Cane’s is getting some competition right on the same road🥊 #GrandRapids #Michigan #Bojangles ♬ original sound - Mike Smallegan
