Raising Cane’s Expands Again, Bringing a New Location to Walker

Raising Cane’s growth across West Michigan continues, and the next stop is Walker. A new restaurant has been approved for 3179 Alpine Avenue Northwest, on the site of the former TGI Friday’s building. The existing structure is scheduled for demolition, with construction expected to begin by July 2026.

The Walker location will include a double drive-thru, indoor dining space, and an outdoor patio, mirroring the chain’s recent push to build high-capacity restaurants as demand increases. This news follows a string of recent developments from Cane’s in the Grand Rapids area. The Kentwood location on 28th Street drew long lines and overnight visitors during its grand opening in November. Additional plans are already underway for a future location in Grandville.

Raising Cane’s is in the middle of a significant statewide expansion. The company has outlined a long-term plan to open 20 restaurants across Michigan over the next decade, and West Michigan is playing a major role in that rollout. With the Kentwood store now open and Walker next in line, the region is quickly becoming one of the chain’s strongest growth corridors.

For fans of Cane’s chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, and signature Cane’s Sauce, the expansion means more access and shorter drives. For the West Michigan restaurant scene, it signals continued interest from major national brands investing heavily in the Grand Rapids market.

As construction begins in Walker and additional sites develop across the area, one thing is clear. Raising Cane’s is making its presence known, and West Michigan is quickly turning into Cane’s country.

@jacobhillsrealtor Another Cane’s is joining the Grand Rapids area. A new location is officially approved for Alpine in Walker, replacing the old TGI Friday’s. Add that to the new Kenwood spot and Grandville in the pipeline, and it’s clear Cane’s is expanding fast here. #MichiganNews #GRUpdates #WalkerMI #RaisingCanes ♬ basketball positions - MEGAX
