Sugah Please Breakfast, Brunch & Bar: Expands to Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS NEIGBORHOODS-sp-bbb

Grand Rapids is about to get a taste of southern-inspired comfort with the arrival of Sugah Please Breakfast, Brunch & Bar. Known for its bold flavors, creative cocktails, and warm hospitality, Sugah Please is opening a new location at the southwest corner of Fulton Street and Carlton Avenue in Eastown within the next month.

Owner Dr. Wendy Ringo, a Detroit health expert turned entrepreneur, launched the concept in Novi in 2021 before expanding to Detroit in 2024. Now she is bringing the popular brunch spot west where she hopes Sugah Please will become a mainstay in Grand Rapids’ food scene.

What’s on the Menu

Sugah Please is more than just breakfast. It is an experience designed to engage all five senses. Expect southern classics with a creative twist, including:

  • Crab Cake Benedict topped with Cajun hollandaise

  • Chicken and French Toast and Catfish and Grits for hearty comfort

  • Creole Bloody Marys and crafted cocktails to start brunch right

  • Fried Green Tomatoes, candied pork belly bites, gumbo, and po’ boys

  • Decadent desserts like Tower Carrot Cake and Papas Pound Cake

Coffee lovers will appreciate freshly roasted beans prepared daily to ensure every cup is bold and flavorful.

A Mission-Driven Restaurant

Dr. Ringo’s background in medicine and public health is reflected in her approach to food and community. She describes Sugah Please as “bayou-inspired dining that fosters memorable experiences in a warm and inviting environment.”

Her commitment to quality, sustainability, and community connection has made the Detroit location a destination for both locals and visitors. She is aiming for the same success in Grand Rapids.

What to Expect in Eastown

The new 3,300-square-foot restaurant will feature full-service dining, cocktails, and a lively atmosphere. It will be a place for brunch with friends, family gatherings, or even a solo coffee break. With a southern-inspired menu, cocktails, and a welcoming vibe, Sugah Please is set to be one of Grand Rapids’ most talked-about new openings.
